P.O.P.S. Company
can
perform in a 15 to 20-minute pre-show before a show, and in mainstage
productions at The RiverBelle
Dinner Theater. Sometimes a pre-show features the company singing and
dancing, both as a group and as soloists, in the fashion of a mini-musical
revue.
P.O.P.S.
Company
ideally numbers 8-10 people. P.O.P.S. Players
looks for a balanced mix of ages, and sizes, as well as
performers whose strength is singing, or dancing, or both. Formal voice and
dance training is not a pre-requisite for acceptance into
P.O.P.S.
Company.
Talent is only one of the attributes sought in company members:
potential, a high degree of motivation, maturity, and commitment are other
qualities that successful company members need to demonstrate.
P.O.P.S.
Company
members are expected to take the performance commitment
as seriously as we do, so only extraordinary rehearsal or performance
conflicts are accepted. If necessary, it will be better for all concerned
for company members who develop a pattern of conflicts to resign from
the company.
P.O.P.S.
Company
rehearses on various days of the week. The performance commitment is very
time-consuming: during productions, shows are scheduled two times a
week, Friday and Saturday nights with a possible matinee on Sunday.
Performers of Puget
Sound

In future shows the alumni of this group will play key roles in
P.O.P.S.
shows; many will receive professional training and go on to careers for
which the company will be an acknowledged foundation. Auditions
for
P.O.P.S.
Company
will be held all year long; any and all interested individuals are welcome
to try out. Current members of the company will be required to try
out each time to retain their place.

Show Synopsis: Take a walk down memory lane with Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel when the RiverBelle Dinner Theatre presents Trouble at the Tropicabana, an audience participation murder mystery by Tony Schwartz and Marylou Ambrose. The action takes place in Lucy and Ricky’s living room; then switches to Ricky’s club, the Tropicabana. You’ll hear Ricky sing some Latin favorites, see the Cabana girls dance, join in a conga line, and take mambo lessons. Besides Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel, you’ll meet movie mogul heiress Celia B. DeMilo; Mr. Big, a notorious gangster; and Ricky’s cousin Rosita, an illegal alien. Will Ricky sign a movie contract? Is Celia who she claims to be? Will Lucy and Ethel ruin Ricky’s big chance with another harebrained scheme to get into show business? What’s the escaped convict Mr. Big doing at Ricky’s club? How do the Cabana girls keep those fruit baskets on their heads? And who committed the murder? The murder? That’s right—the murder! Someone will be ruthlessly murdered at the end of the show, and it’s up to you to solve the crime! Prizes will be awarded to the first people to correctly guess both the murderer and the motive.
